Sarah Silverman and Friends Land a Variety Show Pilot With Xbox

This should be interesting...

And you thought that an original series starring the alien/not-alien (?) in K-PAX from Netflix, the service that informed you of your love for “visually-striking screwball animal tales from the 1970s,” was weird…

Xbox announced it is developing an untitled half-hour variety show from JASH, the comedy collective founded by Sarah Silverman, Michael Cera, Tim and Eric, and Reggie Watts. The show will feature “new and unsung talent, in various video formats,” all wrangled together and presided over by a different comedian host each week. The brash and charming Silverman will host the pilot episode and Daniel Kellison (Late Night, Late Show with David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live) will executive produce. The series will begin shooting in June.

A comedy series on a video game console! Imagine that! So in the near future, instead of hunkering down with your ragtag tribe of female gamers for another evening of computer-generated stealth and violence, you may gather to delight in a Reggie-Watts-curated comedic repertory . Instead of watching Solid Snake neutralize terrorist threats, you could watch Michael Cera do… whatever it is Michael Cera does. (You know, other than prance.) We have to admit — we’re intrigued. We just hope that Xbox doesn’t try to incorporate Live technology. The last thing we need is some mouthbreather’s interrupting Sarah Silverma’s standup with complaints and/or come-ons.
